Wool & Wire celebrates its 3rd anniversary on December 4, 2023! From the very beginning to the current beautiful showroom: we would like to take a look back on how it all started and where we are today.
December 4, 2020: The very beginning
The story of Wool & Wire started, like many start-ups, at the kitchen table. Three young guys - Vincent, Fedor and Rudolf - with a plan. We built our business from home and through many online meetings. In the early and late hours in addition to our full-time jobs.
And that was just the beginning...
September 4, 2021: From online to a mix between offline and online with a showroom
The first year we helped the customers primarily online, by sending samples and giving online advice. Yet we felt there was a need for a physical location where customers could discover the rugs. That was the moment when we opened a first showroom at Tavernierkaai 1 in Antwerp. We were able to do this thanks to the hospitality of a good friend.
June 1, 2022: From 15 to 500 square meters
After a year, we outgrew our building on the Tavernierkaai. So it was time to think about the next step.
We decided to quit our jobs and go all out for Wool & Wire. We also said goodbye to Rudolf as a business partner, but he remains a good friend to this day. And that wasn't the only change...
Paardenmarkt 68 in Antwerp became our new home base. In this beautiful city palace in rococo style of 500 square meters is more than enough space to receive customers in a spacious showroom. Here we also have room for our growing team.
Constantin, our first intern, experienced from the front row how we moved from our old showroom to our new one. Never a dull moment at Wool & Wire!
A year of toiling and sweating
Of course, such a beautiful building could not remain empty. We started decorating it and created some great opportunities to showcase our natural rugs.
We certainly could not have created our beautiful showroom without the skills of our interior stylist Suzy Vissers. We are also grateful to Casper Vissers. He is our permanent mentor with years of experience in the design world. You can spot him below in the first photo. A real powerhouse, as you can see!
June 10, 2023: From ATV to opening party
In addition to hard work, the Wool & Wire adventure has already included many fun moments as well. For example, in May 2023 we got a visit from ATV for a short report about Paardenmarkt 68. Lots of nerves beforehand, a glass of bubbles afterwards, but above all very proud!
We were also happy to welcome our second intern, Klaartje. She was a born content creator and helped expand Wool & Wire further online.
On June 10, it was finally time for the official launch of our beautiful showroom. We did so with a fantastic opening party! In other words: fully ready to receive our customers.
Wool & Wire continues to grow
Of course we don't stand still. This summer we welcomed two new team members: Caro (content manager) and Eva (sales and customer care). They are the perfect addition to our growing team.
We were also present at the 'VT Wonen & Design' fair near Amsterdam at the beginning of October. There we proudly presented our latest showpiece: the tapestries! With this collection, we are increasingly evolving towards our new concept of 'Natural Home Dressing', which means Wool & Wire can help you with all your finishing touches at home. And all from natural materials.
