You just accidentally dropped a cup of coffee on your carpet and you don't know how to clean it up. Don't panic. If you follow the following steps, your carpet will be clean again in no time..
There already exists 1 golden rule when it comes to spilling coffee on your carpet: be very quick † This prevents the liquid from drying up and getting into the fibers of your carpet, causing a stain. It is therefore very important to react immediately when the liquid is only just on the carpet †
Step 1: Dab with a wet cloth
take a cloth and make it wet with cold water † If necessary, add a drop of highly diluted shampoo. Gently dab over the coffee stain with your cloth † Do not rub the coffee stain with your cloth † but just dab on it † Rubbing will only make the stain bigger. Continue to dab for 1 minute until the stain is completely gone.
Step 2: Cold water with shampoo, vinegar or ammonia
If dabbing with cold water is not sufficient, proceed to the next step. Take back your cloth with cold water and add a drop here highly diluted shampoo ready. Also add a few drops of vinegar or ammonia and dab over the coffee stain again. NB: do not use a combination of ammonia and vinegar, because these agents neutralize each other, so that they no longer have any effect.
Step 3: Let it dry for a while
To finish, take a dry cloth and blot away any remaining moisture. Let your rug dry for a while and your carpet is spot-free again.
