After a cozy evening, you notice that there is some candle wax on your carpet. Now what? No panic. If you follow the next steps, your rug will be clean again in no time.

There is one golden rule When it comes to candle wax on your carpet: react quickly! This prevents the candle wax from getting stuck in the fibers of the carpet, making it more difficult to remove the stain. It is therefore important to take immediate action.

Step 1: Iron with cloth

Place a cloth or paper bag (not plastic!) over the candle wax. Put your iron on a hot setting, but don't let it get too hot to avoid damaging the cloth.

Slowly iron the cloth or bag on the spot of the candle wax. This will melt the wax and be absorbed by the cloth or bag. Do not stay too long in one spot with the iron to avoid burning the cloth.

Step 2: Lukewarm water with vinegar and shampoo

After ironing take a cloth with lukewarm water and add a splash of vinegar and optionally some shampoo. Gently dab on the remaining stain until it is completely gone.

Note: do not rub the stain, but dab gently. By rubbing, the stain can actually spread further. Keep dabbing for about a minute until the stain is completely gone.

Step 3: Let it dry for a moment

Finally, take a dry cloth and pat away the excess moisture. Then let your rug air dry and your rug will be stain-free again.
