There is one golden rule When it comes to cleaning your carpet: react quickly! This prevents the vomit from drying out and sinking deep into the fibers of the carpet, making it harder to remove the stain. It is therefore important to to take immediate action.
Step 1: Scrape and remove
Take a scraper or a flat object and remove as much vomit as possible. You can also use a dustpan for this. Make sure you have picked up all the large clumps before you move on to the next step.
Step 2: Lukewarm water with ammonia
Take a clean cloth and wet it with lukewarm water. To this, add a tablespoon of ammonia. Gently dab your cloth over the vomit stain. Be careful: do not rub your cloth over the vomit stain, but only dab over the stain. Rubbing will only make the stain bigger. Keep dabbing for 1 minute until the stain is completely gone.Step 3: Let it dry for a moment
Finally, take a dry cloth and pat away the excess moisture. Then let your rug air dry and your rug will be stain-free again.Step 4: Combatting Odor
If an unpleasant odor lingers after an accident with vomit, you can use some sprinkle baking soda over the carpet. The soda helps to neutralize the sour smell. Let it let it soak for a few hours and suck thoroughly afterwards on with the vacuum cleaner.
