You drop your glass of orange juice on your rug. Now what? Don't panic. If you follow the following steps, your rug will soon be clean again.
There is one golden rule when it comes to drink stains (sodas, alcoholic beverages, juices, etc.) on your rug: react quickly! This will prevent the liquid from drying up and soaking deep into the rug's fibers, making it more difficult to remove the stain. So it is important to act immediately.
Step 1: Dab with a cloth
Take a clean cloth and wet it with lukewarm water. Gently dab over the drink stains without rubbing. Rubbing will only make the stain bigger. Keep dabbing gently for 1 minute until you have absorbed most of the liquid.
Step 2: Lukewarm water with shampoo and vinegar
Mix some lukewarm water with a few drops of mild shampoo and a dash of vinegar. Then use a new, clean cloth and dab at the stain again. The acid in the vinegar helps neutralize the stain, while the shampoo gently cleans without damaging your rug. Dab just until the liquor stain is completely gone.
Step 3: Let it dry for a while
Finally, take a dry cloth and pat away the excess moisture. Then let your rug air dry and your rug will be stain-free again.
