A small accident can happen quickly. A bottle of nail polish tips over and leaves a noticeable stain on your carpet. No need to panic, with the right approach you can get it clean again without damage.

Most important rule? React immediately. The faster you act, the less chance the nail polish has to bond to the wool fibers. Don’t let it dry, but follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Dab with acetone or pure alcohol

Take a clean cloth and moisten it with a dash of acetone or pure alcohol. Gently dab over the nail polish without rubbing. Rubbing will only spread the stain. Continue dabbing calmly for 1 minute until you have absorbed most of the nail polish.

Step 2: Let it dry

Take a dry cloth and dab away the excess moisture. Then let your rug air dry and your carpet will be stain-free again.
