Small accidents happen. A bottle of nail polish tips over and leaves a visible mark on your rug. No reason for alarm: with the right approach, it comes clean without damage.
The key rule? Act immediately. The faster you respond, the less chance the polish has to bond with the wool fibres. Do not let it dry, and follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Blot with acetone or pure alcohol
Dampen a clean cloth with a little acetone or pure alcohol. Blot the polish gently, without rubbing: rubbing only spreads it. Keep blotting for about a minute, until most of the polish has been absorbed.
Step 2: Let it dry
Blot with a dry cloth to absorb the remaining moisture, then let the rug air dry.
